Nick’s Original Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce® was brought to Fall River, Massachusetts in 1920 by Pappas (“Nick”), who had worked with a Coney Island hot dog vendor in Philadelphia for several years. Pappas’ son Bill eventually took over the business. When he finally sold the restaurant, the secret sauce recipe was the most expensive part of the deal.

In 2002, Fall River native, Fred Beaudry, bought Nick’s. It did not take him long to discover the secret behind Nick’s long-standing success: the sauce had become “famous.” Even though he had grown up in Fall River with Nick’s at his back door, Fred was amazed to see how many people from as far away as Japan made Nick’s a destination point in order to take home the sauce in plastic containers, which they brought with them to the restaurant.

NICK’S CUSTOMERS ASK FOR SAUCE TO BE SOLD ON WEB

Fred’s out-of-town patrons consistently urged him to set up a website so they could purchase the sauce online. In response to his customers’ requests, Fred worked with his son-in-law, Chuck Conniry, to bring Nick’s Original Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce® to market.

After much research and development, Conniry carefully and precisely reduced the sauce recipe to a dry spice mix, which, when combined with water and hamburger, produces the sauce in its original form and flavor. Nick’s customers both near and far can now enjoy the savory goodness of Nick’s “secret sauce” any time and place they desire.
