Nick’s Original Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce® is unique both in terms of its flavor and consistency. This product contains 3 individual, 2 oz packets of Nick’s Original Coney spice mix. Just add water and beef (as directed on package) for the perfect Coney sauce. It has a hearty “gravy-like” quality that distinguishes it from run-of-the-mill chili con carne. It also has a much fuller flavor than traditional chili and features well in finely minced beef. The common recipe that first-generation sauce makers used to craft their product has been safeguarded by their successors. Many latecomers have attempted to copy the Coney sauce. But the only versions of “Coney Island sauce” that capture the full flavor of the original are those that trace their point of origin to the first-generation. Though often imitated, the original Coney Island sauce has never been duplicated.

Ingredients
Chili pepper, onion, garlic, sugar, salt, hydrolyzed corn protein, autolyzed yeast extract, cayenne, caramel color, spices and less than 2% sunflower oil.

Directions
In a 3+ quart pot bring 1-1/4 cups of water to a boil. Add contents of packet and 1/2 LB. lean ground beef (7-15% fat). Increase heat and thoroughly pulverize beef with manual potato masher. Bring contents to boil while mashing beef. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 3 minutes.
